Café Con Leche - Cuban Style

The Cuban version of café au lait! A classic Miami breakfast beverage, usually dipped into with a slice of thick buttered toast.

Ingredients

  • 1-2 ounces espresso coffee - the Café Bustelo brand is common in Miami
  • 1 cup hot or steamed milk
  • 1-3 teaspoons sugar, optional and to taste

Directions

  1. Prepare espresso shot; Cubans commonly use a Moka stovetop pot.
  2. Add your sugar to bottom of drink cup. Heat milk, either by slowly warming on the stove, microwaving, or steaming.
  3. Pour piping hot espresso over sugar and stir until dissolved. Then pour hot milk into the cup and combine.
